Gather the basics
Server, approximate time, the player's name or ID. That alone is usually enough for us to find it in the logs.
Moderation
Moderation only earns trust when people can see how it works. This page describes the process we follow, including the part where we admit a mistake.
A community where punishments arrive without explanation feels arbitrary even when every decision is correct. Writing the process down costs us the comfort of improvising and gives you something to hold us to.
Helpers handle the routine: spam, slurs in chat, obvious griefing. Moderators handle bans and anything involving a dispute. Anything touching a minor, a threat or a staff member goes straight to senior staff. Nobody reviews a case they were personally involved in.
Cheating and exploiting, griefing another player's work, harassment and slurs, ban evasion, advertising other servers, and sharing someone's personal details. Being bad at the game, arguing about a decision or disliking a moderator are not offences.
A report reaches a person, not a queue nobody reads. First the involved players are separated so nothing escalates while we look. Then we check logs and any evidence you sent. A decision follows, it is written down, and the reporter is told the outcome even when the answer is that nothing happened.
Most cases start with a warning, because most people stop when told. Repeated or deliberate behaviour moves to a mute or a temporary ban. Permanent bans are for cheating, ban evasion and anything that endangers another person. Severity decides the step, not the mood of the moderator.
Screenshots and clips help, timestamps help more, and a server name plus a rough time lets us pull the logs ourselves. We do not act on hearsay, and we do not ban someone because a group of players asked us to.
Every punishment can be appealed and the appeal is read by someone who was not involved in the original decision. Bring the ban ID and the context. A calm appeal that admits what happened is far more likely to succeed than one that argues the rule should not exist.
Staff follow the same rules as players and their decisions are reviewable. A wrong ban is lifted and the record is corrected, not quietly deleted. A moderator who abuses the position loses it, which has happened and will happen again.
Moderation in numbers
Real counts from our two punishment databases, not estimates. Both were reset, so these are not lifetime totals of the network.
SourceBans++ records, reset on 10 May 2024. We clear old punishments every few years so a mistake from years ago does not follow someone forever.
LiteBans records, reset on 14 February 2026. Warnings and kicks are counted from the start and are not cleared.
How it works
Server, approximate time, the player's name or ID. That alone is usually enough for us to find it in the logs.
Open a ticket or send an email. Reporting the same case in five channels slows it down, it does not speed it up.
Do not confront the person yourself. It rarely helps and it often turns one report into two.
If the outcome makes no sense to you, ask. We would rather explain a decision than have you assume the worst.
Every decision points to a rule anyone can read before they join.
Involved players are separated before the case is judged, not after.
Decisions are recorded, so a later appeal has something to check.
Appeals are handled by someone who did not make the original call.
FAQ
Usually hours, sometimes a day or two when it needs senior staff or log checks. If a week passes without an answer, ask again, it means something was missed.
We do not pass on who reported. In a small community they can often guess, and we will not pretend otherwise.
Yes, for cheating, ban evasion and anything endangering another person. Those do not get a warm-up.
Appeal it, or write to the community email. Complaints about staff are read by someone else, not by the person you are complaining about.
Records stay while a punishment is active, and moderation history matters for repeat cases. A punishment lifted as a mistake is marked as such rather than erased.
Low ping in the EU, moderation that answers, and progression you earn instead of buy.
